Your username or penguin name is the name under your penguin. The letter limit for your username is 12, and only could have numbers, letters and spaces. If your penguin name is inappropriate or not yet confirmed, your name will be "P" and then a small code of numbers, the numbers are what number of penguin you are. Some usernames of famous people are Rockhopper, Gary, and Cadence.

- Some penguins use their usernames as the passwords, but now if someone wants to change their password, it can't be your username. .
- A lot of penguins use cheating devices to change their/other people's names into swear words or famous people names, but this is client side and not viewable by other players.
- Back in the beginning of Club Penguin, your name could be 2 letters or just numbers, like the beta testers PU and 0000.
- If you type the wrong username or password an orange icon will appear and say, "Penguin Not Found" or "Wrong password".
- Some people put spaces, numbers or words in famous people's names, for example G4ry, Billyb0b or Cad3nc3.
- Strange names have been fixed by Club Penguin but some penguins still have these names. If you go to run on your start menu then type in charmap, then you get a list of strange characters. Before Club Penguin fixed this, you could log in using those characters. Example: Zt flash = Žţ fļăşħ. Club Penguin has fixed this and it no longer works to create a penguin with these characters.
- Some people sketch out their usernames to keep them private.
- If you type in undefined as the user name and a random password a notice comes up saying "You must enter your Username to enter Club Penguin." This is because Flash considers "undefined" as a null object. The same thing happens if you type "undefined" as a password.
- There is a glitch where if you are in your igloo and you have the Box Dimension portal, you click the portal and then quickly press Edit Igloo, this means when you enter the Box Dimension, you will have no name. This works in every room when done correctly, your name will return after logging out and back in again.
- If you type in a lowercase in the first letter of your user name, the first letter would be automatically capitalized, unless you joined in 2005.
