I'm thinking because it is the Arctic, and in the prehistoric times the ice was still very thick, it couldn't have been broken by clumsy penguins or hot weather. It continued freezing until it became opaque.
The hump just because hollow when the Megalodon got out, it probably just slowly overtime the iceberg became thicker until it became solid again, and translucent.
Probably overtime it may melt, and when it melts the Iceberg is at 90% risk of drowning. Probably.
