The Cave Expedition was an event in Club Penguin that began on January 22, 2010 and ended on January 28, 2010. It was confirmed on the What's New Blog and the Club Penguin Times Issue #223. The point of the activity was to explore the caves and the underwater. The free items were a Miners Helmet at the Mine and a hidden pin (The Amethyst Pin) that could be found if you dug all the pieces of it using the Jackhammer 3000 or the shovel. The expedition consisted of three new rooms: the Cave Mine, the Hidden Lake and the Underwater room.

What to Do
When the player went inside of the Cave Mine, they would have to start digging with a jackhammer or shovel. They had to move and dig four times, and would find a crystal piece each time. This would unlock the Hidden Lake, where they would find a Deep Sea Diving Suit for 50 coins (only for members). At the end of the lake there was an entrance to the Underwater room (only for members). Upon entering the room, the player would be able to obtain the free Coral Reef Background.
After the Cave Expedition, if you got into the Underwater room there was no background. The Moss Key Pin could've been used to enter again, and you could only get the pin by following the Giant Squid in level 1 of the Underwater Levels in Puffle Rescue.
Trivia
