Mission 6 Cage Lift

The Cage Lift as seen in Misson 6

The Cage Lift is a device that is featured in PSA Mission 6: Questions for a Crab. It is located at Herbert's Base, and uses a series of pulleys and barrier to use hydraulic energy for lifting a cage that traps the player.

The basis of the Cage Lift is built from a water tap that is placed above a vertical gutter, that has a drainage hole on each one of its sides.

A metal pipe, which can be tilt to the left/ right, is placed just below the water tap. Once water flow from the water tap, the direction of the water is determined by the angle of the pipe: if its buttom part pointed to the right, the water will go to the right, and vice versa.

On the left side of the device, there is a water wheel, made of metal cans. If the water flow to the left, it will rotate the water wheel, and while spinning it will lift the cage- allowing the agent to get out.

Between the metal pipe and the water wheel there is a barrier, that can be lifted by placing a cargo on a small platform next to it, which, using a pulley, will lift the barrier.

How to solve it

Spoiler warning: Plot and/or ending details follow.

Before entering Herbert's Base, the player picks a bag of Puffle O's, and will find a Black Puffle, and by giving it a Puffle O, it follows the player.

  1. The first step is to throw a Puffle O on the switch of the water tap (by selecting a Puffle O and then clicking the switch). The Puffle will follow it, and let the water flow. The water will flow to the right.
  2. As the water flows to the right, throw a Puffle O on the left side of the metal pipe. The puffle will jump on it, rotate the pipe and change the direction of the water flow to the right.
  3. As the barrier prevents the water from rotating the water wheel, throw a third Puffle O on the platform that is connected with a rope and a pulley to the barrier. The Puffle will jump on it and its weight will lift the barrier.

Now the watermill rotate the water wheel, and free the agent.

Spoilers end here.

  • Herbert is most likely the inventor of this device.
